Treatments

  • EARLY INTERVENTION

Early intervention is designed to help those who are misusing or abusing drugs and/or alcohol but do not meet the diagnostic criteria for a substance use disorder and admissions criteria needed to admit the person into treatment.  Through the use of a structured substance abuse education model early intervention services have been shown to be an effective way to reduce or eliminate the progressive nature of substance abuse.  SOS early intervention professionals will help individuals and/or your loved one understand the consequences of abuse and/or addiction, educate them and empower them to make the necessary changes for a healthy, sober life.  To accomplish this, SOS’s early intervention services are designed to help educate clients and/or their families to achieve the following:

    • Assess the severity of their substance use
    • Increase the clients knowledge and ongoing awareness of what are “healthy vs. unhealthy limits”
    • Recognize the harmful effects of drug or alcohol misuse and abuse
    • Identify progression of use, abuse and dependence
    • Identify risk factors and how to manage them
    • Develop strong coping skills
    • Learn how to handle peer pressure
    • Improve one’s readiness to change
    • Develop and implement a change plan

Remember, it’s never too soon to intervene.  Don’t wait for you or your loved one to hit “rock bottom” — the longer you wait, the harder it is to treat as the mind and body become dependent.  With the support and guidance of the early intervention professionals at SOS, early intervention services can help individuals and/or your loved one get back on track and prevent the pain and suffering of addiction before it has a chance to take hold.

  • OUTPATIENT

SOS's outpatient treatment is for clients identified in early to middle stages of addiction. The basic elements of the Outpatient approach are group, individual, and family sessions (early recovery skills, relapse prevention, family education and social support) and 2-3 individual sessions delivered over 12-16 weeks of treatment.

    This includes:

    • Anger Management/Coping Skills Group
    • Gender specific Men or Women’s Recovery Group
    • Matrix Model Early Recovery Group, Relapse Prevention, and Family Support Group
    • Peer Support (aftercare) Groups/Recovery Principles- Recovery Support Group
    • Substance Abuse Education
    • Weekly Self-Help Meetings (AA, NA, or CR)
    • Trauma Recovery Group
    • Case Management Services
  • INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT

SOS’s intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for substance use disorders (SUDs) offers services to clients seeking a more intensive treatment program; a step-down of treatment from inpatient/residential care, and/or withdrawal management settings; or a step-up of treatment from private practice, individual and/or group outpatient treatment.  IOP treatment includes a prearranged schedule of core services (e.g., individual counseling, group therapy, family psychoeducation, peer recovery support and case management [CM]) for a minimum of 9 hours per week for adults or 6 hours per week for adolescents.

To help clients fulfill their individualized treatment plan goals, IOP services may incorporate other in-house treatment and peer services, encourage clients’ attendance at mutual-support groups, and collaborate with local community providers to secure needed services (e.g., medication-assisted treatment, psychological assessments, vocational rehabilitation services, and trauma-specific treatment).

  • VIRTUAL OUTPATIENT

Virtual outpatient addiction treatment is one of the therapy options we provided at SOS. In the wake of the uncertainty and restrictions due to COVID-19, and the difficulties we sometimes face (transportation, childcare, etc..), virtual treatment/therapy can be a reliable and effective form of addiction treatment.

At SOS, virtual treatment/therapy is accessible from the comfort of your home. You will receive the same quality of care that you would during in-person sessions. Due to everyday responsibilities and obligations, this may be a good option for you as many people can’t attend an in-person program regularly.  Virtual therapies and other online recovery programs allow you to receive the addiction treatment, support and help you need from home
